Our story.

Managing Director

My journey to a more sustainable future started 12 months ago. My wife is in the footwear industry and was constantly being asked to find a solution for end-of-life footwear and how to make the industry more sustainable.

I could not understand why there was not a method for sustainably recycling footwear already, surely there was a solution out there. The more I looked in to it the less I found. What I did learn very quickly is that many brands were not being as transparent as required. There was a lot of greenwashing going on with very little evidence they were achieving what they were suggesting. This was when I finally came across Fast Feet Grinded in the Netherlands.

After further learning the scale of the problem we were facing in the UK alone with 300 million tonnes of footwear going to Landfill each year, I decided to make the solution.  In July 2023 ReNewShoe Ltd was born – the licensed partner in the UK and Ireland for Fast Feet Grinded, who have the only machine in the world that can recycle footwear back to its 100% raw materials.

So through our collaborative efforts and the use of world first technologies, we are now committed to transforming the industries approach to sustainability by maximizing material reuse, reducing waste and promoting a circular economy.

Our future goal from here is to bring Fast Feet Grinded’s global expansion plan to reality by investing in our very own recycling machine and bringing it to the UK. From there ReNewShoe’s ambition is to revolutionise the UK’s footwear industry by continuing to recycle old shoes and increasing the volumes of output material for manufacturers to use, enhancing the circular economy we all strive for.

ReNewShoe aims to help create a greener future for the footwear industry.

The idea for FastFeetGrinded originated in 2016 and was masterminded by Danny Pormes and Erna Pormes-Redecker.

By then the entrepreneurs behind FastFeet B.V. for 20 years and owners of Runnersworld Hoorn. As a supplier to the Ministry of Defence, they were expected to incorporate recycling into their business process. At that time, however, there was no one available to help with this. Therefore, they decided to develop and implement this unique process themselves. Thus, in 2017, FastFeetGrinded was founded, opening the world’s first unique footwear recycling company.
